As an Image Consultant and Trainer, I have conducted many consultations / trainings / grooming sessions for men and women of all age groups.
In one such session, one of the participants wrote in her feedback form,
“If only I was exposed to such etiquette session during my school and college days, it would be so much easier for me when I first joined corporate.”
That is when I thought, she was so right. Our education system never emphasizes the importance of learning and inculcating etiquettes. It is all about how well the child scores in the examinations and how far is he/she in this race. It is never about, how he/she will carry in this society or the world outside.
It is high time that parents / teachers realise once the examinations are over and the results are out, companies will not select them based on only grades (definitely, grades being one of them). Students will get placements based on their overall personality, grooming, confidence and their digital presence. And especially in this competitive and volatile world, it becomes all the more important to ensure that they are an all-rounder.
We, at Asmita Image Consultancy, have taken a small step in imparting this knowledge on cooking, serving and dining etiquettes to kids aged 7 – 15 yrs in our workshop #NoVA. We also have programs for college students to help them build up the confidence to face the world outside.
In the end, it is all about the effort and the willingness to change for the better.
