SUMMER IS HERE!

By on March 27, 2019

The scorching heat is unbearable no doubt; however we can still manage to breeze through our day if we set our mind to. And we at ASMITA IMAGE CONSULTANCY will help you do just that.Take a deep breath and read on.

When it comes to clothes during the hot summers, it is important to keep in mind that comfort is the first priority. One should avoid thick fabrics that don’t let your skin breathe and opt for lighter fabrics. When it comes to choice of colours, there is no hard and fast rule; however pastel shades and colours with brighter hues are preferred over extremely dark colours.

Cotton is the best fabric to be worn during summers, be it in the form of kurta, shirt or dress. Cotton oozes elegance and can be styled whichever way we choose to without looking over the top. Also it’s a breathable fabric. You can opt for straight cotton trousers or culottes instead of denims.Go easy go cotton!

Linen is a very comfortable fabric just made for summers.  It’s known for its moisture-absorbing properties. Pair your linen kurtis/tunics with dhoti pants for casual wear. Linen blazer is another trendy option available in this fabric that can be used for both casual and formal occasions.

Khadi is probably the most underrated fabric around; it is gaining ground nowadays in the fashion circle. It is a handloom fabric and you won’t feel heavy wearing it.Khadi dress can be worn as Friday casuals to work or for brunch with friends. Pick what suits your mood and slay!

Apart from symbolizing a Yash Chopra heroine, chiffon makes its way to our wardrobes during summers. Effortlessly light and chic, this fabric will help you look and be cool. Opt for a summery kaftan top or a simple floral skirt to stand out and raise your oomph.

HERE’S TO STRONG WOMEN, MAY WE KNOW THEM, MAY WE BE THEM, MAY WE RAISE THEM!

Look smart this Valentine’s day!

By on February 13, 2019

”There is just one happiness in life,to love and be loved.”

Let’s be honest, Valentines’ day brings up great memories for all of usWe all have spent countless days and nights to get that perfect look and it’s of paramount importance for those celebrating to be well groomed for the d-day.

Personal grooming can never be taken for granted as it’s an extension of who you are. As a famous saying goes” You are your habits”.  It isn’t a herculean task to be well groomed. All you need is some time for yourself and some simple do’s and don’ts to guide you through.

SKINCARE AND MAKEUP TIPS

  • It is better to avoid getting a facial or a new beauty treatment done just before Valentine’s Day or any other important day to steer clear of any adverse reactions to your skin. Don’t we all want to evade those pesky pimples and rashes!
  • Get a manicure and pedicure regularly for well groomed hands and feet.
  • Makeup helps accentuate our natural beauty. While makeup is an important tool to look good, one should always know one rule doesn’t fit all. Women tend to go overboard with makeup just to fit in to the Valentine’s day craze. For eg: Just because it’s Valentine’s Day our outfits or makeup don’t have to be necessarily red or pink.
  • The golden rule is to either go bold with your eye makeup or lips. If going with bold eyes then opt for brown/pink toned nudes or a muted gold lips.
    • Use right amount of highlighter to get that warm loved up glow on your face.
    • One should keep it in mind that no matter what which makeup look you choose to wear it should resonate with you as a person.
  • Accessories are important add-ons to your whole look and hence should be chosen wisely. A wrong accessory can turn the entire look to a disaster while the right one can take the look to a whole new dimension. Some of the key points to be considered while accessorizing:
  • Either wear a chunky neckpiece or a statement earring. DON’T wear both as this will give a cluttered look.
  • Your shoes and handbags don’t have to match either in colour or aesthetics, if you plan to wear dark coloured shoes then handbags can be a little understated.
  • Either wear bright clothes or eye grabbing accessories, doing both will only add unnecessary drama and unwanted attention to your look.

POSTURE, BODY LANGUAGE AND MISCELLANEOUS TIPS

  • Slouching and playing with the hair is to be avoided as you would want to give a confident vibe.
  • Maintaining eye contact is important as inability to do so can signal disinterest.
  • Avoid unnecessary hand gesticulation.
  • It is important to smell good. Choose a fragrance of your liking but keep it warm and subtle.  Overdoing the fragrance just kills its purpose.

GIFTING

  • When it comes to gifting there are no fixed rules. It is a common perception that women should be recipients of gifts and not the ones giving them. Let us aim to change that, surprise your significant other/loved one by gifting them something personal and innovative. It could be as extravagant as cuff-links to as simple as a personal handmade card. But always keep in mind what interests your loved one.

OUTFIT IDEAS

Wear clothes according to your body type and personality and don’t follow fashion trends blindly. Wear what you are most comfortable with you will be just fine.

  • SKIRTS: Skirts go well with shirts, tops and even tank tops.
  • DRESSES: You can opt for long or short dresses depending on your comfort level. The colour of the outfit need not be just reds or pinks; you can play with colours like yellow, green, royal blue or maroon. Even black and white makes for a good choice.

A guide to Valentine’s day grooming!

By on February 13, 2019

GENERAL GROOMING TIPS

  • You can experiment with your style to look extra special on your date night. Colours like purple, mustard either in your main attire or as accessories can be pulled off easily with blacks and blues to get that offbeat and trendy look.
  • Cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser it will help you keep oil dirt pollutants and those zits away.
  • Unkempt hair, Dandruff are few of the biggest turn-offs, getting a natty trim and using an anti-dandruff shampoo will help you avoid itchy scalp and visible flakes.
  • If you sport a beard be sure to trim it and use gel or oil to keep it from getting frizzy and all over the place.
  • A lot has been written and proven about how oral hygiene can be a game changer in the dating game. Brushing and flossing regularly, periodic dental checkups should be high up in your agenda. In case you are a smoker and have stained teeth, it is recommended to get a cleanup done. Use a mouth freshener to avoid episodes of bad breath playing spoilsport on your date.
  •  Dirty fingernails are not really a healthy sign of your lifestyle. Trim your nails and use a cuticle pusher to push back any skin that protrudes above the nails.
  • Body posture and hand gestures say a lot about one’s personality. Do not slouch while sitting or standing. Leaning forward slightly while maintaining appropriate eye contact can be seen as positive and engaging.
  •  Less is more when it comes to fragrance; choose an Eau de toilette of your choice. Just spray it over the neck and chest area; you want your personality and not your scent to stand out.

Make-Up Your Presence

By on January 14, 2019

I have always said that individual consulting gives me great joy and am saying it again.

In this particular Individual Consulting, this lady is business owner and creates customized Notepads, Diaries, Name tags, Envelopes, Bags, and many more. She believes in creating memories and helps people in doing that.

When I first met her, was very intrigued by the belief and the thought that she is operating her business. But something was lacking – her CONFIDENCE in her abilities.

When you are business Owner, YOU become its Brand Ambassador and that is what I made her realize. Once the realization set in, projecting that confidence externally also becomes equally important and Makeup plays an integral part in it.

Though not 100% but Makeup brings a change in you. It helps in highlighting the best in you and makes you look confident. That is what my client understood and used the basic makeup products for the right look. Along with the right Makeup came right dressing as per Body shape, Age and height.

Small changes go a long way and not only I but her family and friends too saw the difference in the way she conducted herself in the recently concluded Exhibition.
One more name added in the list of “People who I could impact”

Made-up OR Make-up?

By on December 14, 2018

MAKEUP – the word is usually associated to transforming an individual’s outer persona completely. While this is true to a certain extent, it can be looked from another perspective as well.

Makeup can also be used to accentuate one’s features and if used rightly can give you right confidence with right attitude.

Here are few products that can be used on regular basis in a professional setup.

1. Sunscreen with UV protection

2. Compact Power

3. Eyeliner

4. Kajal

5. Lip Gloss

6. Lipstick

7. Nail Polish

Both Lipstick & Nail Polish of neutral shades of brown & pink to maintain the corporate look.

As I, always say, you should dress up as per your personality and not try to be someone else. This applies to makeup too. You should apply makeup that suits you and not follow market trends blindly. And most importantly, you should make sure that the right amount of Makeup is used, as anything in excess is harmful.

And, it is best to consider your skin type and invest in good quality makeup products and use only those products that are essential for everyday routine.

Usage of products like concealer, Eye Shadow, Mascara should be avoided for daily use as this will affect your skin in long term. But, if your profession demands the usage of these products, then you have to ensure that these are removed properly to avoid damage to your skin. It is advisable to use natural products like coconut oil or Aloe Vera Gel or products with minimum Chemicals. It is good to check the contents on the pack.

We conduct DiVA PRO: The Workshop for Working Women professionals where makeup is one of the topics.

Women – Carve Your Identity

By on November 15, 2018

When I interact with Women in their late 40’s or early 50’s, I sense a feeling of void that has been created as their children are on their own or have moved out for education and husband is busy with his career. These women are the same women who were part of the workforce years back and have given up their career to take care of their family responsibilities. They have been champions in fulfilling their duties as wife / mother but the lack of their own identity is visible in their eyes.

It is sad that till date, Women are still considered primary caregivers of household and kids with little or no help from their better half. Family responsibilities are of utmost importance but isn’t it the responsibility of both partners.

Having something that you can call your own, be it small business as product seller, service provider, social work, hobby classes or even a part-time job can give you the fulfillment that your skills and education is put to use and every woman deserves it. These days, there are many organisations like Google, Facebook, even women communities who are supporting women led businesses and helping them in whatever way possible.

Important thing is Women should use their potential and carve an identity for themselves.

If you know someone or you yourself would want to experience change in any area of your life, I would be happy to help you and assist you in your journey. You can connect with me at asmita.aic@gmail.com to know more.

Tomboy Tina

By on October 1, 2018

It was just the other day when my friend was mentioning that her son loves reading books and his favorite one is Tomboy Tina who loved wearing dungarees and did not want to change into dress for a party. But, when her cousin Zara meets Tina, she understands and transforms her appearance by giving her loads of confidence.

That’s when I got reminded of Tomboy Tina that I had met a year back. She was in her early twenties and used to think that dressing up like a man would keep unwanted attention at bay. She wanted to portray herself as a strong, independent person, and especially as son of the family. So she was wearing clothes that were more like a man.

Her parents introduced me to her and wanted a transformation for her. When I met her, I realized that she idolizes her father and wanted to always become like him and in the bargain, had started dressing up like him. Now, she has become comfortable in those clothes. I worked closely with her for next couple of months and observed that she too wanted to dress and feel good but was not sure, how to do it?

Here, the transformation had to be internal first for it to be visible external. You have to start accepting your own self first, fall in love with yourself.

And, yes, the transformation did happen for real life Tina and today she is very happy in her personal and professional life, projecting herself as Strong and Elegant.

Journey of Inner Transformation

By on September 27, 2018

Personally, I always enjoy doing consulting for an Individual as there is lot of experimentation that can be done and most importantly, they open up to their innermost fears and apprehensions.

I specially want to share this particular consulting experience as this was one of the most difficult and life changing experience for the individual as well as for me.
Shobha was 21 years when she came to me for consulting much against her wishes. Her parents had forced her to come to me for consulting for her image makeover. She did not like Indian culture, customs, traditions or anything Indian. Her attire was restricted to Black Track Pants and T-shirt for all occasions. She was unsure of everything in her life be it career, clothes, behaviour or even relationships. Being the youngest in the family, she was pampered by her everyone. Her parents wanted to give best of best of everything that she desired or wanted. Inspite of this, She was unappreciative, negative, agitated towards them and in general towards everyone.
I took it up as a challenge. As an Image Consultant, I truly believe that its the overall personality of the individual that matter. I could have helped her in deciding the right attire but that that would not help her. My first step was to help her know her real self within. I helped her in her journey of discovering her real self. I had to engage with her first and made her comfortable to open up with me. I started watching her favourite web series to connect with her and strike a conversation. From then on, the journey became smooth.
Today, I can proudly say there is vast difference in her in the way she is carrying herself. Her relationship with her parents, friends, acquaintances have improved. She is clear of her career goals. She knows now, anger creates cracks more than anything else and has learned to control it. And, her dressing style resonates her personality – vibrant, clear, fresh, colourful and youthful.
Individual Consulting with Shobha has been a satisfying and rewarding experience for both her and me.
If you know someone or you yourself would want to experience change in any area of your life, I would be happy to help you and assist you in your journey. You can connect with me at asmita.aic@gmail.com or visit www.asmitaic.com to know more.
